Our meeting lasted quite a bit longer this time around. There are two reasons why this happened: Firstly because we prepared a couple of calendars with photos from our nighttime excursions and secondly because the critique of the photos we shot is taking more time than scheduled as our new members are pretty lively and creative! When we had finished, we explored how a photograph can be affected by changing the values of the shutter speed and aperture of the lens. By using a faster speed, we can ‘freeze’ an image, whilst with a slower one, we can capture the movement of the object we’re trying to photograph. You can look at some examples down below: In our next photograph you’ll see a lit spinning top that even though it is currently spinning appears to be still as we used a 1/1000 speed. H ere we are again, after the holiday on 28thOctober. We met on Sunday morning at 10:30. We started, as always, with subjects related to the art of photography. We pointed out how important it is to feel joy during the shooting without thinking about the result at that moment. We also talked about the following Walker Evans's quote: "cultured life is seen in photos." We investigated the origin of the artist's inspiration. In Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy writes: "Artists are only those who are inspired directly from life and not those inspired indirectly from life already embodied in art." Finally, we talked about the dilemma of black and white or coloured photography and we concluded that no dogmatism is needed - good photography exists in both categories. Then it was time to play. Our photography club's 3rd meeting for the school year 2018-2019, took place on Sunday, October 21, 2018. On our meeting we discussed about several  subjects: 1. Questions related to the artistic aspect of photography:  Should we add emotions, feelings, messages, symbols, etc to our photos? (answer: NO!).  Should we take a lot of different shots of the same subject? (answer: YES).  Should our photos have several interpretations? (answer: YES) 2. How the aperture of the lens and the shutter speed affect the exposure of the photograph? 3. Practice technical methods as listed above 4.
