Nikon D750 & Nikkor 24-120mm July 29, 2019

We dreamt about it! We worked for it! We acquired it!
So what did we get? The Nikon D750 camera kit with 24-120mm f/4 VR lens!

This is a full-frame DSLR model that extends the range of our capabilities as a school photography team. Of course, it will be used to cover all other activities of the school, capturing beautiful memories for our school community.
Our efforts to acquire it began 4 years ago with some actions from our former school principal Athanasios Vrakopoulos. Unfortunately, despite some promises we were not able to realise our dream.  The vision was embraced by the current principal of our Lyceum, Mr. George Papavassiliou, who supported and guided our efforts and materialised our aspirations.
To achieve this, of course, a considerable amount of money had to be spent.
The greater part of the cost was covered by the residents of Kontariotissa, Katerini and Litochoro, who responded to our call for help by purchasing a book, characterising the photos shot by our students.
In a similar fashion, many of the academic and educational community of our school, as well as the Gymnasium of Kontariotissa, responded positively and showed their backing of our project.
We also received a donation of 50 euros from our school's stationery supplier Mr. Nikos Parasidis.
The "Άρωμα Ολύμπου" team of our school, run by the teacher Mr. Grigoris Kalomiros, kindly gave us a total of 140 euros.
Our school newspaper team, led by our teacher Melitini Abadou, offered us 50 euros.
Also 50 euros was offered by the parents and guardians association of our high school students.
It is easy to see that all of the school force was mobilised, mostly the pupils, members of the group, who sacrificed personal time and expenses to sell photos.
We would like to thank everyone above for their support.
However, no matter how much we tried, even though we worked hard coupled with a big discount from Nikon on this camera model, we couldn’t collect the money needed to buy it.
As a last resort, we went to Nikon's Greek dealer, D. & I. Damkalidis, asking for a rather generous discount in order to acquire the kit. Even though our expectations were low, a miracle happened!  With the mediation of their marketing manager, Ms. Katerina Patsiou, whom we thank very much, our request was accepted by the management. Words cannot express how thankful we are, at their generousity toward us.
This is how a professional-grade camera got into our hands and now it is up to us, to make the best use of it.
Below you will find some more photos from the unboxing of the camera that took place in the summer at the Kontariotissa High School. Only six students from our photography team participated. The rest preferred to visit the beach (and ... we cannot blame them!)
