Meeting on April 07, 2019

In this meeting we got to know the life and work of a great photographer: Andre Kertesz. Where does one begin when describing Kertesz? We shall only mention one incident: When asked why is he still shooting photos at 90 years of age he replied: “Because I am still hungry!”
Onto the technical matters now, we practised on the panning technique. Mr. Stavros S. offered to help us by taking plenty of laps with his bike! As we all know when using the panning technique, you have to experiment and shoot a lot of pictures in order to get at the very least one that is actually decent. So that’s what we did. We chose a telephoto lens to further blur the background and used a neutral density ND 16 filter that shaves off 4 stops so that the picture will be correctly exposed as the slow shutter speed we chose led to closed diaphragm values that simply do not exist in any lens! You can see the results down below:

Lastly, we played a new game that thrilled us! We’ll say more about at our next meeting as we suspect that we going to play it again!
